"All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the Lord has commanded." Exodus 35:10

As we read the story of the construction of the Tabernacle, we are impressed both by the richness of the materials used and by the tremendous creative ability that was needed to accomplish the work according to the pattern God had given. God loves beauty. The tabernacle was to reflect it.

Moses invited the people of Israel to surrender their jewels, their gold and a sliver as an offering to the Lord. All the skilled people were called to furnish the Tabernacle as God had commanded them.

It was a project worth investing in - a dwelling suitable for God who speaks, who provides, the merciful God of the second chance. God appointed two gifted men to assemble the tabernacle and it's furnishings of wood and precious metals. Women also played a vital role in the finishing of the Tabernacle of God. They brought their gold and silver jewellery, their earrings, nose rings and bracelets. They brought their expensive fabrics and their fine yarns to offer before God. Willing women skilled in weaving, sewing and embroidery worked on all the coverings and curtains. The momentum grew as they began to experience the joy of giving back to the Lord and being a part of his work. More and more riches came out of their stores and each morning the people brought contributions for the work.

Life Lesson: God loves beauty. His creation shouts it. God has gifted each one of us with unique skills and creative abilities. We need to take time to develop them and offer them to God. These are the God given opportunities for us to express His artistry. When we offer our skills for God's glory, something remarkable happens, they multiply in our hands. Our creativity reaches new heights. This also draws us into a deeper fellowship with God. He is the ultimate creator of beauty and being in His image means we are to create beauty as well.
